The history of Consolidated Water and the Cayman Islands are tightly intertwined. The Company was established in Grand Cayman in 1973, and the island is home to a large number of our plants as well as our corporate headquarters. The potable water supplied by our Company was integral to the development of the Cayman Islands as a tourist destination and international banking center. The Cayman Islands hold a unique place in our Company’s history and will continue to do so even as the we expand internationally.
The Company has been able to utilize its Cayman based operations to develop techniques and practices that have proven very successful in other markets, and to refine our processes into some of the most efficient in the world. The challenges of working in a fairly remote locale have required us to be creative. We operate a retail water utility that serves the Seven Mile Beach area of Grand Cayman, and we also produce water on a bulk basis for the other water utility on the island, the Water Authority-Cayman.
Our plants in the Cayman Islands display a diversity of techniques and approaches. Their efficiencies and longevity are testaments to the high quality of our operations.
