Our Bulk Water Operations currently consist businesses in the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas. The current total supplied from our plants is approximately 20 million US gallons per day (USMGD). This potable water is sold to both public (government) and private entities, for potable and irrigation needs.
Water is supplied by our bulk operations pursuant to long term contracts that provide our customers with performance guarantees for quality, quantity, energy usage and other factors. We presently have three types of contractual arrangements with our customers:
Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer
Under this type of contract we design and build a seawater desalination plant to the customer’s specifications and provide the customer with a long-term loan to finance their purchase of the plant from us. Once the plant’s performance testing has been completed and approved and the plant has been fully commissioned, we enter into the operating phase of the contract pursuant to which we operate the plant and sell the water produced to our customer. Once the contract expires and the final payment on the loan is received, the operations of the plant and physical custody of its assets transfer to the customer.
Design, Build, Operate and Transfer
This type of contract is consistent with the DBFOT with the exception that the customer will finance, or arrange for third party financing of, the construction of the plant.
Design, Build, Own and Operate
Under this type of contract we design and build a seawater desalination plant to the customer’s specifications and sell water to the customer from the plant under a long term arrangement, but we retain plant ownership.
